Production - The Diary of an Ugly Girl

The production takes the audience into the inner world of 14-year-old Malva — a girl whom her peers label as “ugly,” and whose life is filled with mockery, loneliness, and hiding. A black hood is her shield, and her diary the only place where she dares to write down her most painful thoughts.

Then Runo appears — a young man who looks beyond appearances and notices Malva’s sensitive and creative soul. Together with the other friends she meets along her journey, her world slowly begins to open up. Through them, she learns that beauty can lie precisely in fragility and difference.

“The Diary of an Ugly Girl” is a moving and honest coming-of-age story about courage, friendship, and hope. The production speaks to anyone who has ever felt left out — and shows that there is something beautiful in every person, waiting to be seen.
